What is the Senior Council?

The purpose of developing a Senior Council for Devon is to give older people a voice and provide a way of engaging with them, listening to their views and aspirations, and working in partnership to develop practical ideas and action to address their concerns. The Senior Council for Devon will aim to:

  .be a focus for the voice of older people in Devon (in their communities and at district and county levels) in developing and improving services

.realise the potential of older people

.a creative and active resource for the community

Senior Councils are already active in some parts of the country, for instance in Gloucestershire , Shropshire  and Newcastle, and they have become the main route for older people to expres their views to al the statutory agencies and work together to plan solutions for the future. Individuals and organisations will be able to become engaged in a  variety of ways:

.Receiving information about local services

.Taking part in consulatation about local services

.Event/meeting attendance

.Helping support/run local Senior Councils

.contributing skills and time in other ways
