Pudsey comes to town ......

An exciting event happened in Okehampton on Saturday 2nd October when Pudsey came to town to meet the children from all the Primary Schools in the EX20 area who had written a poem about their grandparents.  Some of these are funny, some are sad and some are very enlightening.  Pudsey also met grandparents, parents and school staff members.  Invited guests were the Mayor and Mayoress of Okehampton and the Mayor and Mayoress of West Devon. 

The SCfD Okehampton branch agreed to publish the poems in booklet form for each school, and these will be sold and the proceeds going to the BBC Children in Need Appeal.  We expected a few schools to join us in this project but all 15 schools in the area signed up with over 700 poems needing scanning, cropping and saved to disc.  Pupils from the local College helped Pudsey in a street collection which raised £95 and they also filmed the Launch of the Poems for posterity.
