FUTURE MEETINGS 2012
TEIGNMOUTH Senior Council is holding two talks about health to kick off the New Year. Members will afterwards be able to frame questions for two leading health officials.
Dr Derek Greatorex, a senior GP in Kingsteignton who is chairman of the new South Devon Clinical Commissioning Group, will give a talk about changes in the NHS on Friday January 20.
And Mandy Seymour, chief operating officer with the Torbay and Southern Devon Care Trust will outline the situation in her organisation on February 17.
Both meetings are being held at 2pm at the Teign Heritage Centre - formerly known as Teignmouth Museum, with refreshments from 1.30pm.
At our AGM in April, you elected our new committee, which comprises:
Chairman and Treasurer - Frank Hartley Tel: 776452
Vice Chairman - Jim Corben Tel: 770670
Secretary - Vacant
Committee Members - Eileen Brierley, Pamela Martin, Brenda Aston and John Vaughan.
As you can see we lack a secretary, which means that all of us are having to chip in a bit more and you may not find that the organisation is as smooth as it was when Mary was organising us. If you know anyone who would be prepared to help, please do let us know.
Speakers and meetings:
All meetings are held at the Teign Heritage Centgre, Holland Road and begin with tea or coffee at 1.30pm with the formal meeting beginning at 2pm.
We look forward to seeing you at each of the meetings. Do try to bring a friend because the more members we have, the more government - both national and local - will feel it has to take notice of what we older people need.
Frank Hartley
Please contact Frank Hartley on 01626 776452 or Jim Corben on 01626 770670 for further details of our coming meetings and events.
Please click here to read the report on the meeting held on 9th April 2010 which included a talk by Nina Purnell of Age Concern on choosing a Care Home.
Teignmouth Senior Council represents the over 50s in Teignmouth, Bishopsteignton and Shaldon.
