We will be holding meetings on Monday 13th February when we will have a speaker called Philippe Planel who will be talking about East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty,  Monday 12th March (no speaker booked as yet), Monday 9th will be Easter Monday so no meeting but we are hoping to arrange a social get together close to it, to be arranged. Monday 14th May, Monday 11th June,  Monday 9th July,  Monday 13th August, Monday 10th September,  Monday 8th October,  Monday 12th November, Monday 10th December.

Our membership though small is now made up of people that want to stay with the Senior's Forum. We now need to reach out to other groups to find out what they think we should be achieving.  We have been the instigators of another handrail in Axminster.  We asked our local Mayor if the Town Council would be interested in a handrail from the Surgery to the local car park and they took the matter up. It is now fixed to a wall and ready if the weather should get inclement. The rail runs down an incline which can get extremely slippery in bad weather.  There are a lot of elderly and frail people going from the car park to the surgery.  We have tried to get a patients panel at the surgery but are told the Practice Manager is busy but will start one soon.  We wait patiently!

Our local Ring & Ride is in trouble.  The bus supplied by the Devon County Council has had to go back as they cannot afford the rent charged by the DCC despite them giving a grant.  The rent is 90% of the monies given. West Dorset Ring & Ride have purchased a bus of their own and have been asked to cover part of East Devon for 6 months.  We feel that many elderly people will become isolated in their homes with no means of transport and we have sent a letter to Councillor John Hart at the DCC.
